There’s nothing like a holiday in the comfort of your own caravan or camper. At Finchale, we have pitches for motor-caravans and touring caravans along with VW campers. We also have our Glamping Pods if you wish to spend the night camping!
Finchale Abbey Touring Park County Durham
At Finchale Abbey's adult only touring park all pitches have stunning views across the park and out over the Abbey ruins backed by woodland and the river Wear. The site is naturally and gently sloping; however, our site layout keeps the pitches level although chocks may be needed on occasion.

There are both hard-standing and grass pitches, all of which have access to an electric hook-up (10-16 amp). You are welcome to have a gazebo or awning, but please ensure that groundsheets used inside awnings are breathable for the longevity of the grass and the benefit of all visitors. Your never too far from the toilets along with our dog walking area by our fruit orchard.

Enjoy camping without roughing it in our bespoke camping pods with lights, heating and electric sockets. The pods also benefits from being fully insulated and double glazed and has a lockable front door. The pods have two full sized single beds (which can be pushed together if desired!). Outdoor furniture is provided so you can enjoy the evenings too.

The park is open all year and booking is essential.

If you would like to select your plot we will try to accommodate you but we cannot guarantee your desired plot will be available especially at weekends and public holidays (but your plot will be within your booked area.) All plots (with exception of N and E plots) are hard standing with space for awning (breathable groundsheets only please) and access to an electric hook-up point. Please see the booking link for full details of electricity ampage and prices per night as these vary between plots. Standard plots have a 10 amp electricity supply. Standard plus plots have a 16 amp supply.
Plots B1-B3, T1 - T5 and G1 - G2 are Serviced Site allowing direct access to mains water, grey water disposal and an electric hook-up with 16amp supply.
Fancy coming to Finchale but don't have a caravan? The parks two bespoke handmade glamping pods could be the answer! Snug and warm with two single beds, heating, lights and standard UK plug sockets. The pods offer all of the fun of camping but without the roughing it!
The pods also have outdoor furniture, space for you to have a barbeque (bring your own) and with fuel for the firepit included you're sure to enjoy your evening 'almost' under the stars just remember to observe the 11pm silence rule around the park.
The touring park has an excellent toilet block which was recently refurbished to include fully accessible disabled facilities. The toilet block offers free hot showers, wc’s and washing up facilities. Razor sockets are provided if required, and hairdryers and hand dryers are available within the block. There is also a disposal point on site for chemical toilet waste.
